I thought I might take a few moments to share a some of tools that we find indispensable here in the studio.
For me the most important tool is SONG SHEET 5 by DSBSoft. This isn't a free program but it is well worth the $30.00!!!
The author, Bruce Swift, provides the utmost in personal customer support for this software. You can give is a FREE 15
Day Full Feature Trial run. I did and immediately purchased this program when my 15 days expired.
If you are a guitar player and song writer you will find this the ultimate song writing tool. When my 15 days expired it was
2:00 am on a Sunday morning. I was working on a tune for the Kristal Users Group Challenge song writing contest and
needed to make some last minute changes to my Song Sheet 5 file. Though I was able to access and print everything I had
created during my trial period I was unable to make changes. I immediately went to DSBSoft.com and purchased the
product. Then there was a wee glitch when I went to activate my purchase and unlock the program. By 4:00 am I had sent
DSBSoft an email asking for assistance and by 6:00 am had a response from the software author himself with the problem
solved and his assurance that he would check back with me and make sure all was working correctly. Sure to his word by
1:00 pm I received a follow up email!!!! Since then I have ask a few questions and Bruce has responded almost

For Lynette the most important tool is FINALE NOTEPAD 2009 . This isn't a free program but is well worth the cost if you
do any composing, arranging or transcribing. Now this program is totally beyond me but for Lynette who is a professional
musician and is constantly transcribing and arranging music this software is a dream. With this program she can compose
and print the lead sheets. While writing the music she can play and monitor the actual sound of her project. With several
dozen students ranging from elementary to advanced classical levels she uses Finale Note Pad to prepare arrangements of
flute and piano compositions tailored to the individual student's skill level. Lynette gives this program a Five Star Rating.

Another tool that we use regularly here in the studio is MY SPEED by Enounce.
We do a lot of transcribing from YouTube videos. With MY SPEED the time required for this type transcription is
dramatically reduced. Being able to control the playback speed allows us a more detailed focus on the individual notes in the
video. This is much easier and faster than repeated playback at normal speed to identify each note correctly. Lynette Rates
the 5 STARS!!!
Another great use for MYSPEED is when using streaming video tutorials. Being able to slow the video down when it comes to
a screen shot example is fantastic! You don't have to play and replay to catch a particular action being demonstrated. The
Old Man rates this 5 Stars Too!!!
MYSPEED isn't free but you can get a Demonstration Copy for free. The Demo is a full version for a specific time period. It
is well worth the money!
